The gravity field of the Earth can be mapped from satellite. The gravity field is important to know for various reasons. These are i.e. navigation, off-shore safety, oil and mineral exploration along with a number of other purposes.
The Gravity of the Earth and earthquakes
One central purpose is to map the active zones of the Earth’s crust where earthquakes and volcano’s appear.
In this small story we will show how different types of active zones in the Earth crust can be mapped from satellite in order to understand why different Earthquakes strikes in different regions of the world. Finally you can test your skills in trying to predict if and when an Earthquake will appear in Indonesia.
